Exchange Rate

The “Tasa Representativa del Mercado”, or the official Market Exchange Rate in Colombia, is the  official economic indicator for the Colombian peso to the United States dollar. Before November 27th, 1991, the official exchange rate was known as the Exchange Certificate’s value. The official exchange rate is calculated on the basis of foreign exchange transactions performed by financial institutions among themselves and with the other sectors. The official market exchange rate is currently calculated and certified daily by the Financial Superintendency of Colombia based on financial transactions reported for the previous working day. For more information about methodology used to calculate the official exchange rate see “Asunto 8". (This information is only available in Spanish).
