Real Value Unit - RVU

The Real Value Unit (RVU) is the account unit which reflects the Purchasing Power based exclusively on the CPI variation certified by the National Statistics Department of Colombia (DANE). As of January 2000 the RVU replaced the Unit Constant Purchasing Power (UCPP) in all effects. The RVU is calculated according to the methodology established by the "Consejo de Política Económica y Social (CONPES)". The RVU is used to calculate the cost of housing credits. This account unit allows financial entities to adjust credit values to the cost of living increase in our country.

The methodology used to calculate the RVU, which was estabished by the Board of Directors at Banco de la Republica, strictly assures compliance with what was ordered in C-955/2000. More information regarding (antecedents) the RVU can be found at "Reportes del Emisor No. 41". Also, the methodology used to calculate the RVU can be found at "Resolución Externa 13 del 2000" (This information is only available in Spanish)
