Many Maharaya Indian treasures are nowadays at the Royal England Museum. In China, the most precious China stone was jade; it symbolized cyclical motion of life, immortality and only jade could protect the body and soul. The importance of gold for Incas is described and conquers could not understand the religious meaning of gold and the legend of El Dorado because of their ambition on this metal: “a king so rich covered in gold dust from feet to head in a sacred lake”.
