Economic Performance in the second quarter
of 2001
|
According to provisional estimates made by National Administrative Department of
Statistics (DANE), in the second quarter of 2001 Gross Domestic Product (GDP) fell
0.10. In one quarter the unemployment rate decreased by 1.5 percentage point
registering 18.1% in June 2001. Additionally, inflation measured by the increase in the
Consumer Price Index (CPI) was 7.9%, and measured by the Producer Price Index (PPI) was
10.1%, in June 2001. The exchange rate increased by 5.5% reaching 2,305.66 pesos per
dollar in the first semester of 2001.
