Exchange rate


The market exchange rate at the end of September of 2000, stood at an average of Col. $2,213.76 pesos per US dollar, registering a nominal devaluation of 15.21% during the year. On the other hand, the Real Exchange Rate Index stood at 120.09, indicating a real depreciation of 8.2% during the third quarter which was primarily due to the greatest nominal domestic devaluation (15.2%) compared to the external one (6.1%), and by the decrease in the gap between national inflation (PPI 10.02%) and external inflation (6.3%)..
